When Product needs to get Technical
In a company with a Product team, the Product managers have one focus: Your products. Everything to do with what your company is producing and selling is what they deal with. That means anything from setting up your Support team to understand the functionality to cooperating with Development to build it, from sanctioning Marketing to Sales preparation and training. They’re generally managing the product from an idea perspective: what is it solving, what exactly are we building and supporting, who is the product targeting. Each of the deeper caveats like “how is it built” are a conversation between Product and the other appropriate teams, like Development. I’d like to specifically explore the Product and Development relationship.
